Warm Seasons Greetings to our members! It’s time to update you again with our latest news.
November Champ Show
Our ‘Pink’ show has been a great success. We were fortunate to have judges from Ireland and USA, and with record entries, we managed to raise $300.00 for Breast Cancer Awareness, so thank you all for your contributions. Most people embraced the novelty of a pink theme and had some fun, which is what we hoped for. As a result, we intend to choose another worthy cause for our November show next year and hope you will support it once again. If you have any suggestions for a worthy charity, let us know and we will consider it.
One other item of good news – members Mr and Mrs Savage have kindly donated a trophy for our next November show, for the winner of Best of Breed for the Japanese Spitz. Thank you so much for this.
If your breed does not have a trophy and you wish to donate one, please contact a Committee member to organize this. We would be delighted to accept it as it would be good for all breeds to be recognized in this way. If you were lucky enough to win a trophy for Best of Breed this year, please remember to get it engraved, ready for next year.
Butch Dog Food
This is a good opportunity for us to acknowledge Butch for sponsoring our shows and providing vouchers for dog food, as well as beautiful sashes for Best in Show and Reserve in Show. We hope to continue this successful partnership in the future
Other Show information
If you know that you will be showing other breeds that may be in the ring when our show is on, or if you need to start late or leave early, you are welcome to contact Lynn Evans before the reporting sheets have been sent out and your request relating to the order for judging the breeds will be given consideration.
Unclaimed Challenge Certificates
If you forgot to pick up your CC or had to leave before they were available, we will have these available at the Secretary’s office at our next show. Alternatively, you are welcome to send Lynn Evans a self addressed and stamped envelope, and she is happy to post it out to you.
Annual Ribbon Parade
Each summer, our Club holds a ribbon parade and more recently, we have held them in conjunction with a ribbon parade run by the Southern Bulldog Club. This summer will be no exception and we can tell you that the date of the Ribbon Parade will be Sunday 2 February, to be held at the Groynes. We do not have the name of the judge yet but will give more details closer to the date. Please remember to keep this day free! It is particularly good for young dogs and novices at showing to have a go.
The Utility Dog and Non Sporting Dog of the Year.
Just a reminder about this new competition – it is open to all our members and will be decided from anyone whose dogs win Best or Reserve In Show, or Best or Reserve in Group. Points will be allocated accordingly and the ones with the most points will win this prestigious award. It will run from 1 January through to 31 December and it will be up to members to submit their results to our Secretary.
Points will be given as follows:
Best In Show – 10
Reserve In Show – 8
Best in Group – 5
Reserve in Group – 3
If you haven’t done so already, please forward your results to us now to be in the running for these awards. The winner from each Group will be awarded at our AGM, in February.
Subscriptions
A reminder to you all that our subscriptions are due on 1 January 2014. These must be paid to Lynn Evans before you can qualify for discounted show entries. Alternatively, you can pay your subscription by internet payment to our Club’s Westpac bank account:
South Island Non Sporting and Utility Assn Inc 03-0802-0034579-00
Please include your name with the payment so our Treasurer knows who has paid.
Annual General Meeting
It’s not long to our AGM which this year will be held on Wednesday 19 February2014. It is held at 7.30 pm at McDonalds in Merivale (Papanui Road). As always, we welcome all members to this meeting as it’s an opportunity for you to have your say and contribute to the running of our Club, which is your Club. We would love to have more people on our Committee, so long as you are interested in supporting the Club and happy to help out in some way. We currently have a good team who work well together, but more Committee to share the various duties would be even better. We are a small and friendly Club and try to make our 2 Shows and the Ribbon Parade worthwhile events, but can only do this with your help. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM!
